Isimangaliso Wetland Park described by the locals, a place of wonder. A place where you given the freedom to be you, to express your love for the ocean in a way only you know how, where everyone is your friend.

Trying to describe Sodwana in short amount words can be troublesome but I have found that you cannot explain it but only experience it.

Sodwana Bay forms part of a continuous protected area that stretches 150km from the Mozambique border, south to Cape Vidal and 3 nautical miles out to sea. Sodwana Bay, best known as a drinking town with a diving problem, here you can find beautiful coral reefs with the various deep dives it has to offer, regarded as the southern most coral reefs in the world and the only tropical dive site here in South Africa. Sodwana is considered the diving mecca of South Africa. When diving here be sure to look out for our abundance of tropical fish, moray eels, beautiful turtles and large schools of pelagic fish. In the summer, loggerhead and leatherback turtles come out of the ocean to lay their eggs across Sodwana’s beaches. Our reefs consist of hard and soft coral and some sponges. At the best time of the year, we are graced with the presence of whale sharks, whales and dolphins and the occasional beautiful beasts we call sharks. Sodwana’s warm waters range from 24℃ in summer and hardly colder than 19℃, which makes diving in Sodwana a year round activity. The reefs themselves are thought to be over 4 000 years old and have plentiful and breathtaking caves, overhangs and pinnacles.

Sodwana is not just for us divers, it is covered with dense coastal forests where hiking a 5km self-guided trail is something to not take for granted and is aimed to take the breath of any nature lover away. Start to make this a destination for friends and family where you can snorkel our beautiful reefs.

Sodwana Bay is any outdoors man paradise, try tear yourself from solace beaches and explore the surroundings, meet the locals and become part of the Sodwana family.
