Been scuba diving in Sodwana Bay lately? If not, you’re missing out!! The diving in Sodwana Bay has been spectacular lately, showing off the the massive diversity it has to offer in single dives alone. I always have been very pro the marine protected area for various reasons, but more apparent it has never been than now in this day and age. Isimangaliso wetland parks-Sodwana Bay has proven time and again to be the best place for scuba diving in every way. From snorkeling to open water dive courses to technical training ground – we can have it all. For now ,through, we will be making the ever beautiful Parrot Fish our hero.

Displaying magnificent surreal colours and graceful movement leave me in awe of their beauty and their home in which they live. The male “version” being the most spectacular has a variation of neon blues, purples, some greens, yellows. No one is exactly the same as the next. We took some footage of one in particular on one of our dives which I will post on our Facebook page-Adventure Mania . But this is impossible to capture as it really is . Scuba Diving with these pretty fish is the real thing. What you see with your own eyes is worth every bit if time taken out just to catch a glimpse.

Curios fish to say the least. A pretty as they are ,they have quite a powerful jaw(beak). When feeding on the reef structures almost breaking it up with little effort. They have a beak shaped mouth – hence the name Parrot fish ,they scrape the reef taking up the polyps and algae and “poop” . It is said that this digestion makes up a lot of the sand around the coral reefs. So perhaps think twice when touching at the sand patches – you’re touching Parrot fish “poop” ..HAHA!!
