Scorpaenidae, the scorpionfish, are a family of mostly marine fish that includes many of the world’s most venomous species. As the name suggests, scorpionfish have a type of “sting” in the form of sharp spines coated with venomous mucus. The family is a large one, with hundreds of members. They are widespread in tropical and temperate seas, but mostly found in the Indo-Pacific. They should not be confused with the cabezones, of the genusScorpaenichthys, which belong to a separate, though related, family (Cottidae).
There is little doubt that diving and dive charters in Sodwana Bay are our core business. We pride ourselves as being world class scuba diving instructors and take pride in our operation as being professional and safe as possible. We decree that sport scuba diving contributes to marine habitation in its entirety, constantly being vigilant and aware that we are visitors in the ocean & that we are privileged to be there and share the space with all forms of marine inhabitants.
